What to expect?
Firstly, we schedule a short consultation of 10-15 minutes over phone or Zoom. At this time, you can tell me a bit about your reasons for contacting me, and I can tell you more about how I work. Then, you take a few days to feel into it. In my experience, it’s not so important what techniques or modalities the counselor uses, but rather how you feel with them.
If you decide that you’d like us to work together, we find a time that works for both of us and try to stick to it for all of our sessions. Although not always possible, it is important to have regularity in therapy. It is like creating a stable base for building a house.
Together, we set up therapeutic goals. They may change over time but provide initial direction. Then, we look at how whatever is bothering you shows up in your life, we get curious about its roots, and we look at what you can do now, in order to have a more fulfilling experience.
Psychological counseling and therapy don’t have a predetermined duration. It is a process that lasts as long as you need it to. Usually, until you feel you have built the resources and resilience to face life’s challenges in a more fulfilling way.
